Discussion Forum on Future Education with Schools and the Local Community
Kim Jeonghee, Chair of the Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Suncheon 3), recently announced on the 24th that a discussion forum was held at Wooseok Hall in the 70th Anniversary Memorial Hall of Suncheon National University to discuss the direction of future education together with the Suncheon education community.
This discussion forum, which followed similar events in Naju and Gangjin, was the third communication platform of its kind. It was organized to directly hear about the current issues of Jeonnam education on site and to explore the direction of future education together. Various topics were covered, including curriculum, experiential learning, educational facilities, school meals, and transportation, in order to gather diverse opinions on Jeonnam's education policy and reflect the voices from the field.

About 500 members of the education community, including parents, school operation committee members, and faculty, attended the event and engaged in lively discussions. One participant proposed support for counseling robots that could provide psychological therapy and counseling in the WEE class, while a teacher asked about the preparation status for IB education (International Baccalaureate curriculum).
In response, Chair Kim stated, "If it is determined that this support is essential for students in their growth period, we will consider introducing it through a pilot project," and added, "While IB education aligns with the direction of future education, sufficient verification must come first. Children must not be treated as experimental subjects, and the establishment of an education system that encompasses both online and offline learning should be the priority."
Other educational issues discussed included ChatGPT training for faculty, the creation of regionally tailored experiential spaces, the operation of small-scale experiential learning programs, the establishment of training courses for students with disabilities, and support for treatment of children with borderline intelligence.
Chair Kim Jeonghee said, "Through this discussion forum, I was able to directly hear various opinions from the education community," and added, "I will do my best to ensure that Jeonnam education can continue to develop through ongoing communication and discussion."
