Financial Assistance for Affected Businesses and Residents,
Including New Loans, Maturity Extensions, and Interest Rate Reductions
BNK Financial Group (Chairman Bin Daein) announced on the 24th that it has prepared emergency financial support measures to assist residents and businesses affected by large-scale wildfires in regions such as Sancheong, Gyeongnam and Ulju, Ulsan.
To support emergency relief and recovery in wildfire-affected areas, as well as to provide daily necessities and secure safe housing for displaced residents, the group has decided to donate approximately 300 million KRW. This donation will be carried out in cooperation with the Red Cross branches in each affected region.
BNK Financial Group, through its affiliates Busan Bank and Kyongnam Bank, will prioritize providing business stabilization funds to companies that submit a 'Damage Confirmation Certificate' in accordance with the group's internal 'Disaster Recovery Financial Support System' manual. In addition to reducing interest rates on existing loans, the group will offer preferential rates on new loans, defer loan interest payments, and allow postponement of installment repayments. Emergency living support funds and waivers on remittance and currency exchange fees will also be provided to individual wildfire victims. Furthermore, the group plans to supply relief items such as bottled water, ready-to-eat meals, and hygiene products to affected residents and communities, as well as support kits containing energy bars and vitamins for public officials involved in firefighting efforts.
BNK Financial Group will dispatch its 'Emergency Disaster Relief Volunteer Team,' which was established to provide swift and effective group-level support for disaster recovery. Although the team members are not professional firefighters and will not participate directly in firefighting, they will be deployed to assist with various support activities for residents in need at the disaster sites. On the 22nd, 50 members of the BNK Kyongnam Bank Disaster Relief Team were dispatched to the vicinity of Sicheon-myeon, Sancheong-gun, to carry out emergency support activities.
A BNK Financial Group representative stated that Chairman Bin Daein, along with the group’s management, paid respects at the joint memorial altar for fire victims in Changnyeong, Gyeongnam on the 24th. The representative added, “As this wildfire has caused significant damage in our local areas such as Gyeongnam and Ulsan, we will make every effort at the group level to help affected businesses and residents quickly return to normal operations and livelihoods. As the region’s leading financial group, we will fulfill our responsibility and continue to provide practical support.”
