Anseong-si Signs Joint Agreement for '2025 East Asian Cultural City'

Expanding International Cultural Exchange with Macau, Huzhou, and Kamakura
Namsadang Baudeogi Performance Presented at Macau Opening Ceremony

Gyeonggi-do Anseong City has signed a joint agreement to expand cultural exchanges with Macau and Huzhou in China, and Kamakura City in Japan.


On the 22nd, Anseong City announced on the 24th that it signed the 'Joint Agreement on East Asian Cultural City Exchange' with the Macau Special Administrative Region, Huzhou City, and Kamakura City at the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau building in China.

'East Asian Cultural City' is an international cultural cooperation project promoted by South Korea, China, and Japan to foster mutual respect and understanding through cultural exchanges. Since 2014, representative cities from each country have been selected to hold various cultural events. This year, Anseong City and these three cities were selected.


The joint agreement includes provisions to promote cultural exchange events throughout the year, including opening and closing ceremonies of each country's events, and to enhance cultural understanding among the citizens of each city.


Anseong City plans to hold various events over two days from the 25th to 26th of next month, including ▲ the 2025 East Asian Cultural City opening ceremony ▲ the Korea-China-Japan East Asian Photo Exhibition ▲ the Anseong Mat-chum Poetry Festival - East Asian Poetry Culture.


The city will also prepare various year-round events such as ▲ Korea-China-Japan Traditional Food Festival ▲ Korea-China-Japan Youth Camp ▲ Special Exhibition of East Asian Masks ▲ The Sound of Three Countries and Three Colors ▲ Traditional Performance Festival.


Meanwhile, the Anseong City delegation, led by Mayor Kim Bora, attended the '2025 East Asian Cultural City Macau Opening Ceremony' held in Macau on the 23rd. At the opening ceremony held in conjunction with the '11th Macau International Parade' at the St. Paul's Cathedral Ruins, the Anseong City delegation showcased the 'Namsadang Baudeogi Pungmul Troupe's' pungmul performance.


Mayor Kim said, "The signing of this joint agreement means that Anseong, as an East Asian Cultural City, has reached the starting point of full-scale cultural diplomacy," adding, "Through various cultural exchange events, we will enable citizens to directly experience the cultural diversity of East Asia and take pride in it."
