Commemorating the Heroes Who Sacrificed Their Lives in the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, the Cheonan Sinking, and the Yeonpyeong Island Shelling
Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Director Namil Lee) announced on the 24th that it is currently holding an online Roll-Call event to commemorate the 55 heroes who sacrificed their lives defending the Republic of Korea on West Sea Defense Day, March 28, and to honor their noble spirit.
The 'West Sea Defense 55 Heroes Roll-Call Event' is being held on the Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' online platform, 'Here We Honor,' until the 28th.
To participate, simply write the rank and name of one of the 55 West Sea Defense heroes and leave a message in remembrance of that hero. Among the participants, 55 people will be selected by lottery to receive a Shinsegae mobile gift certificate worth 10,000 won.
This event was organized to allow the public to directly remember and pay tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives defending the West Sea, including during the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, the Cheonan sinking, and the Yeonpyeong Island shelling. The Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs hopes that this event will serve as an opportunity to remember the sacrifice of these heroes and to widely spread the spirit of West Sea defense.
An official from the Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs stated, "West Sea Defense Day is a day to remember the sacrifice of heroes who devoted themselves to national security and the people, and to carry on and respect that responsibility," adding, "We hope many people will participate in this Roll-Call event to once again reflect on and honor the sacrifice of the 55 West Sea Defense heroes."
The winners of the event will be announced within four days of next month on the Busan Regional Office of Patriots and Veterans Affairs' online platform. You can check the results on the website. For more details on participation, please visit the 'Here We Honor' site.
