According to the report, Maria attended a party at a hotel in Dubai on the 9th with two men known as model agents. She contacted her mother the next day saying she was still with the men, but then suddenly lost contact. Two days later, on the 11th, she was supposed to board a flight from Dubai to Thailand but did not show up at the airport, prompting her family and friends to report her missing to the police.

On the 19th, Maria was reportedly found severely injured on a street in Dubai. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and underwent four surgeries. She is still receiving treatment. Foreign media speculated that "Maria might be a victim of Porta Potty." Porta Potty is a type of party held within Dubai’s influencer industry, where large sums of money are paid to women, followed by sexual exploitation and abuse.

Human rights expert Rada Sterling told the media, "Since extramarital sex has been legalized in Dubai, the organizers of Porta Potty are actively exploiting this law," adding, "Women need to be aware of the risks they may face."

However, Dubai police stated in a statement on the 21st, "After a comprehensive investigation, it was found that she entered a restricted construction site alone and suffered serious injuries from a fall," and requested, "The public and media should refrain from sharing unverified information and respect the privacy of the individual and her family." Meanwhile, Maria’s family said, "It is presumed that our daughter went to a party, but the party organizers said they did not see her," adding, "Under unclear circumstances, our daughter has already undergone several surgeries and is still unable to speak."
