Yoon Sang-hyun Advocates Reviewing Veto on Pension Reform... "Must Hold Party Meeting for Re-discussion"

Criticizing Pension Reform Through Social Media

On the 23rd, Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, proposed holding a party caucus to exercise the right to request reconsideration (veto power) regarding the pension reform passed on the 20th through bipartisan agreement.

Through social media (SNS), Representative Yoon stated, "This pension reform plan ultimately carries the limitation of being a patchwork compromise by the ruling and opposition leadership that forces the younger generation to sacrifice," adding, "I propose holding a party caucus to gather consensus on whether to exercise the right to request reconsideration, aiming for sustainable reform rather than a short-term stopgap measure."

He pointed out, "Not only delaying the depletion of funds within the broad framework of paying more and receiving less, but fundamental structural reforms such as automatic adjustment mechanisms are absolutely necessary," and criticized, "This reform plan merely postpones the depletion point, resulting in a disappointing outcome where future generations ultimately bear more responsibility and burden."

Representative Yoon emphasized, "A reform plan that provides the younger generation with confidence in their old-age security and gains national consensus is needed," and stated, "The party leadership must thoroughly re-examine the pension reform plan to present solutions that meet the public’s expectations regarding this matter."

He continued, "With the attitude of Ubo Manri (牛步萬里, meaning 'a slow but steady pace'), even if the steps are slow, we must take the right path," urging, "We must all strive to ensure that proper reform is achieved."
