Monthly Substitute Allowance of 50,000 KRW for Colleagues Covering Parental Leave and Other Work Absences
Employee Welfare Enhanced with Public Officials' Life Stability Fund and Support for Peer Group Meetings for Low-Tenure Staff
Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) is creating a better workplace by improving employee working conditions and strengthening welfare benefits.
A special birthday leave has been newly introduced. Reflecting the trend of valuing work-life balance, the service ordinance was revised to allow employees to take one day off during their birthday month starting January 1. About 1,500 employees will benefit from this.
Additionally, a work substitution allowance has been established. A monthly allowance of 50,000 KRW is paid to colleagues who cover the work of employees using childcare time or maternity protection time. This provides appropriate compensation to those substituting and reduces unnecessary burdens on employees using childcare time.
Along with this, employee welfare has been taken care of. The Gwangjin-gu Public Officials’ Life Stability Fund has been established to promote housing and living stability for affiliated public officials, including ▲loan interest support for public officials without housing ▲low-interest loans from the life stability fund ▲support for public officials in crisis.
Programs for low-tenure employees also stand out. Support is provided for peer group meetings of employees who have been with the organization for less than five years. Cultural activity expenses such as movies, plays, and exhibitions are provided at 30,000 KRW per person, up to twice. This helps low-tenure employees adapt to the organization and boosts morale.
Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “Although it is not a ‘generous welfare’ like other companies, we are trying to create a workplace where employees want to come by communicating and empathizing more with them.” He added, “I express my gratitude to the hardworking employees for their efforts toward a happy Gwangjin that develops through communication. We will continue to do our best to create a good working environment.”
Since the 8th local election term, the district has been striving to improve organizational culture and welfare benefits through new policies such as special promotion systems, important duty allowances, and autonomous lodging expense support.
