Cooperation with Mentos Hospital, Dongdaemun Police Station, and Dongdaemun Fire Station begins April 3
Ensuring safety of patients and residents through 'emergency and administrative hospitalization' and 'psychiatric treatment support'
Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) announced on the 21st that it has signed a business agreement with Mentos Hospital, Dongdaemun Police Station, and Dongdaemun Fire Station for the prompt response and protection of psychiatric emergency patients.
The purpose of this agreement is to protect the safety of both the patients and residents through rapid response and inpatient treatment for psychiatric emergency patients who pose a risk of self-harm or harm to others.
According to the agreement, each institution will cooperate in ▲ operating public psychiatric emergency beds ▲ prompt medical treatment and transfer of psychiatric emergency patients ▲ creating a safe treatment environment for patients.
The district oversees the operation of public psychiatric emergency beds, provides budget support, and supports emergency and administrative hospitalization. Mentos Hospital operates 24-hour psychiatric emergency beds and prioritizes treatment for high-risk psychiatric emergency patients. Dongdaemun Police Station is responsible for on-site dispatch and determining the necessity of emergency hospitalization, while Dongdaemun Fire Station handles emergency rescue and transfer when psychiatric emergency patients occur.
The district selected Mentos Hospital as the partner hospital considering its availability of psychiatric specialists for night and holiday consultations and its ability to continuously operate psychiatric emergency beds.
Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “We will do our best to ensure that residents can live their daily lives safely through the prompt protection and treatment of psychiatric emergency patients.”
At the business agreement ceremony held at Dongdaemun-gu Office on the day, Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, Yoon Seung-hyun, Director of Mentos Hospital, Kim Geun-jin, Head of Crime Prevention Response Division at Dongdaemun Police Station, and Hong Seong-won, Head of Disaster Management Division at Dongdaemun Fire Station, attended and promised close cooperation.
