Hampyeong County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Lee Sangik), announced on the 21st that it held the "Butterfly Release Event" to ensure the successful hosting of the 27th Hampyeong Butterfly Festival.

The event, held in the afternoon at the Aquatic Plant Center in Hampyeong Expo Park, was attended by over 80 people, including Governor Lee Sangik, Hampyeong County Council Chairman Lee Namoh, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly member Mo Jeonghwan, as well as heads of various organizations and social groups.

The participants released 2,025 butterflies, including Papilio xuthus and Pieris rapae, which were raised by the Hampyeong County Agricultural Technology Center, into the sky, wishing for the successful hosting of the 27th Butterfly Festival.

The 27th Hampyeong Butterfly Festival, under the theme "Butterflies Meet the Golden Bat" and the subtitle "The World of Hampyeong Butterflies with Hwangbaki!", will be held for 12 days from April 25 to May 6 at Hampyeong Expo Park and its surrounding areas.

At the Butterfly Festival, visitors can enjoy a variety of spring flowers and see butterflies freely flying outdoors, as well as have the special experience of releasing butterflies themselves while making a wish.

In addition, various attractions such as the Hampyeong Memory Workshop with the golden bat, the Succulent Plant Center, Butterfly and Insect Ecology Center, Nature Ecology Center, Subtropical Agriculture Center, Aquatic Plant Center, Hampyeong County Art Museum, and VR Experience Center are being prepared to welcome tourists.

Cultural and artistic performances will include the Butterfly Fantasia Parade Show, Bread Barber Shop Sing-Along Show, performances by local cultural and art groups, a national busking competition, and a butterfly dance contest, offering a wide range of programs for children and family visitors to enjoy.

Governor Lee Sangik stated, "We are doing our utmost, together with public officials and county residents, to prepare a special and fantastic experience for tourists visiting the 27th Hampyeong Butterfly Festival," and added, "We ask for the interest and participation of both tourists and county residents."
