Yeosu Mayor Jeong Kimyung Visits Frontline Medical Staff to Offer Encouragement

"Gratitude for Efforts to Protect Citizens' Lives and Health Amid Medical Community Turmoil"

Jeong Kimyeong, Mayor of Yeosu, Jeonnam, visited Yeosu Jeil Hospital on the 20th to encourage the on-site medical staff who are maintaining the emergency medical system.

This visit was intended to examine the real difficulties faced by the medical field due to the prolonged turmoil in the medical community and the sharp increase in the number of patients and emergency room usage, as well as to encourage medical staff and workers.

Mayor Jeong carefully inspected the hospital site and held a meeting with the hospital director, chairman, and head nurse, listening to suggestions such as installing security lights near the hospital for the safety of patients using the emergency room at night.

Mayor Jeong expressed his appreciation, saying, "Thank you for your dedication to protecting the lives and health of citizens amid the ongoing medical crisis and the additional difficulties caused by the decrease in public health doctors, and for leading the strengthening of local healthcare as a regional hub hospital."

He added, "The city will also do its utmost to fulfill the role of public health institutions to fill the gaps in essential medical services such as severe and emergency care. In addition, let us further strengthen public-private cooperation to establish a proactive medical response system for increasingly complex and diverse infectious diseases."

Meanwhile, Mayor Jeong Kimyeong is currently promoting the 'Mayor on the Move! Yeosu Tongtong' campaign, visiting sites related to citizens' livelihoods and current issues every month to communicate with residents. He personally follows up on suggestions raised on-site and works for their prompt resolution.
