Creating a Cultural Tourism Hub Together
Fostering a Prosperous Shared Economy
Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province is accelerating efforts to create a “Cultural Tourism Together, Prosperous Tourism Hub City” by implementing a variety of tourism policy projects this year.
Recently, tourism trends have shifted away from traditional famous destinations to “localism tourism,” where visitors experience local culture and enjoy the unique characteristics of the region.
In response, Cheongsong County has developed distinctive policies based on its unique natural scenery and traditional culture, preparing strategies that meet the demands of new tourism trends.
First, to improve tourism infrastructure, projects such as the “Jusanji Tourism Site Development Project” and the “Gyeongbuk-Style Unique Accommodation Facility Project” are being promoted. In particular, by establishing unique accommodations equipped with hotels and glamping sites, the county aims to encourage younger generations and family travelers to stay longer, thereby revitalizing stay-type tourism and boosting the local economy.
Additionally, through projects like the “Our Neighborhood Premium Food Street Project” and the “Dalgi Mineral Water Street Revitalization Project under the Moonlight,” Cheongsong County plans to introduce a differentiated food culture, develop gourmet tourism, and contribute to the activation of the domestic economy.

Alongside these efforts, Cheongsong County is promoting the “UNESCO Global Geopark Educational Tourism Revitalization” project by leveraging its pristine ecological environment, which has recently been successfully recertified as a UNESCO Global Geopark. By operating various geopark programs and expanding domestic and international exchange activities, the county aims to establish itself as a sustainable ecotourism city.
Furthermore, Cheongsong County will drive tourism revitalization through its representative event, the “Cheongsong Apple Festival.” The 19th Cheongsong Apple Festival, to be held this year, will feature newly developed programs and highlight the unique strengths and characteristics of the festival, further enhancing the brand value of Cheongsong apples and preparing the best apple festival befitting the county’s reputation.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, “We will do our utmost to build a healing ecotourism city by utilizing the unique characteristics of the region to establish tourism infrastructure, and to achieve tangible revitalization of the local economy for our residents.”
