Incheon City has finalized five key projects to focus on managing conflicts among stakeholders this year.
On the 20th, the city held a Public Deliberation and Conflict Management Committee meeting and selected the priority projects based on each department's self-assessment and advice from the Conflict Management Promotion Committee. The selection criteria included the importance of major policy projects, the severity of conflicts, and public acceptance.
The top-tier conflict management target was the designation project of Sorae Wetland as a National Urban Park. This project has sparked conflicts over compensation plans for private landowners.
Second-tier projects include the creation of a park on the former Bupyeong US Military Base (Camp Market), the establishment of the Incheon Offshore Wind Power Complex, development of areas following the relocation of military units such as the 3rd Supply Corps, and the modernization project of the Songdo Resource Circulation Center.
The city plans to provide tailored support by deploying experts and operating conflict mediation councils to resolve conflicts arising during the project implementation process.
The Public Deliberation and Conflict Management Committee is a consultative body established under relevant ordinances to collect citizens' opinions and rationally mediate social conflicts, consisting of 14 members.
An Incheon City official stated, "We will strive to enhance citizens' sense of happiness through systematic conflict management and ensure smooth progress of city administration."
