Upgrade of Zoning Around 89-16 Cheonyeon-dong
Final Designation and Official Announcement as ‘Small-scale Housing Maintenance Management Area’
Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) announced on the 21st that the area around 89-16 Cheonyeon-dong has been finally designated and officially announced as a legally effective ‘Small-scale Housing Maintenance Management Area’ as a Moa Town.
This area is a densely populated district of old, low-rise houses and was selected as a Moa Town target site in the Seoul City Moa Town contest in June 2022. Since then, the district office has been promoting the ‘Moa Town Management Plan Establishment Service’ from June 2023 to establish basic directions and secure necessary infrastructure for the area.
After Seoul City’s ‘Small-scale Housing Maintenance Integrated Review’ of the management plan in December last year, it was finally designated and announced as a ‘Management Area’ this month, enabling full-scale project implementation such as the designation of project implementers.
The Moa Town management plan includes land use plans such as project-possible zones and autonomous maintenance zones to improve the aging residential environment and traffic and pedestrian conditions of the target area, upgrading zoning (from Type 2 to Type 3 General Residential Area), and maintenance and expansion of infrastructure such as roads.
It also includes contents such as the ‘Designation of Ansan Urban Natural Park Public Pedestrian Passage’ to secure pedestrian convenience and the ‘Setting of Street Activation Facility Placement Sections on Doknipmun-ro and Doknipmun-ro 8-gil’ for living convenience facilities.
Mayor Lee Seongheon said, “With this designation and announcement of the management area, Seodaemun-gu’s first Moa Town project has been put on the right track,” and added, “We will do our best to provide administrative support so that this project for supplying quality housing and expanding social overhead capital facilities can proceed without any setbacks.”
