100,000 KRW Support Payment per Person
to Be Distributed Early Next Month
Muan County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim San) confirmed its first supplementary budget for 2025 at 653.7 billion KRW on the 20th. This marks an increase of 41.3 billion KRW (6.75%) compared to the main budget for 2025.
According to the county on the 21st, this supplementary budget focused on allocating funds to support the recovery of livelihoods and boost the stagnant economy.
The main budget items include 9.4 billion KRW for livelihood recovery support payments for residents, 1.6 billion KRW for compensation for discounted sales of local gift certificates, 1.1 billion KRW for the onion mechanization project, and 1.44 billion KRW for the modernization of livestock distribution. In particular, the county plans to quickly distribute a 100,000 KRW livelihood recovery support payment to every resident to invigorate the local economy.
From early next month, when the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease is expected to stabilize, responsible public officials will visit villages and apartment complexes directly to swiftly distribute the support funds in the form of Muan Love Gift Certificates. The payment reference date is the 20th, and approximately 93,500 residents currently registered in Muan County are eligible.
Governor Kim San stated, "Despite difficult financial conditions, we have prioritized the allocation of funds for revitalizing the local economy and supporting residents' livelihoods," and added, "We will focus administrative efforts to ensure the allocated budget is executed swiftly."
Meanwhile, the county has promoted the supplementary budget by reducing consumption expenditures and utilizing 25.4 billion KRW in general allocation tax secured through efforts to expand local tax revenue.
