Gyeonggi Fire Department's 'Customized Chemical Accident Response Training' Until July

The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters will conduct a "Customized On-site Chemical Accident Response Training" until July, following chemical accident response drills.

On the 21st, the Fire and Disaster Headquarters announced that they will conduct theoretical education and equipment proficiency training until July, focusing on field personnel from Ansan, Siheung, and Hwaseong Fire Stations, where the likelihood of chemical accidents such as hazardous chemical leaks is relatively high.

A total of 233 participants, including field command team leaders, safety center team leaders, and rescue workers from 25 fire stations across the province, will participate in this training. The focus will be on responding to special accidents such as hazardous material facility leaks and understanding team-specific tasks such as detection, control, and decontamination during chemical accidents.

In particular, a scenario assuming a highway tanker truck collision accident will be used to conduct a simulation operating specialized chemical accident response equipment, providing a more advanced, field-oriented training experience.

Kim Jaebyeong, head of the Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters, stated, "Since Gyeonggi-do has densely concentrated industrial complexes and chemical handling companies, the risk of chemical accidents is very high. This training is conducted with various assumed situations, which will strengthen initial response capabilities for different scenarios during chemical accidents and minimize damage to residents."

Meanwhile, Gyeonggi-do has 2,994 hazardous chemical storage sites, accounting for 27.4% of the nationwide total (10,894 sites), the highest in the country.
