20s Daycare Teacher Engaged to Be Married Collapses Unconscious, Gifts New Life to 5 People On the 27th of last month, Ms. Seulbi Lee (29), who donated her heart and lungs at Yeungnam University Hospital. Provided by the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency

A daycare teacher in her 20s, who was about to get married, gave the gift of new life to five people at the end of her own life and passed away.


On the 20th, the Korea Organ Donation Agency announced that on January 27th at Yeungnam University Hospital, Ms. Seulbi Lee (29) donated her heart, lungs, liver, and both kidneys. On January 28th, the day before Lunar New Year’s Eve, she lost consciousness and collapsed in the car while heading to her hometown to visit her parents. She was transported to the hospital and received treatment but ultimately never regained consciousness. Although her family found it difficult to accept the diagnosis that recovery was impossible, they decided to proceed with the donation, hoping that their beloved would do a good deed by saving someone’s life instead of leaving in pain.


Ms. Lee was born as the youngest of two children in Daegu and grew up with a bright and cheerful personality. She was a kind and pure daughter who never caused her parents any worry. She loved children from a young age and dreamed of becoming a teacher. After graduating from university with a degree in Child Studies, she worked as a daycare teacher. She was a diligent person who had never taken a break from work since graduation. She was also looking forward to her marriage with her boyfriend, which was scheduled for January next year, filled with dreams of newlywed life.


Ms. Lee’s mother, Youngsook Kwon, delivered a final message: "My daughter Seulbi, you were the joy of my life and my greatest happiness. Shake off all the pain and fly freely, travel the whole world, and be happy. Let’s definitely meet again someday, Mom loves you."
