Daejeon City to Launch Full-Scale Program for Nurturing Local Talent through High School-University Collaboration

Daejeon City announced that it will begin full-scale implementation of the "High School-University Linked Talent Development Project for Education Advancement Special Zone," which aims to systematically nurture local talent and strengthen the foundation for residents to settle in the region.

The project is divided into the "High School-University Linked Strategic Industry Talent Development Program" and the "High School-University Linked Club Operation Program." The goal is to help high school students develop practical skills by participating in education, hands-on training, and projects carried out jointly by universities and companies.

The city plans to invest a total of 2.48 billion KRW, including special grants from the Ministry of Education and city funds, and will recruit participants until April. The project will be carried out according to schedule until November 2025.

The High School-University Linked Strategic Industry Talent Development Project will operate 11 programs, including education, field trips, career consulting, and projects in four major strategic industries, regional specialized industries, and three global fields.

The High School-University Linked Club Operation Project will run 13 programs, including club activities, mentoring, and projects in three areas: regional specialized industries, entrepreneurship/invention/hobbies, and living labs.

Before launching the project, the city will hold an online briefing session at 3 p.m. on the 21st, with the participation of seven operating universities, including Daedeok University, Daejeon Institute of Science and Technology, and Mokwon University, to introduce the purpose of the project, details of the programs, and how to participate.

Koh Hyunduk, Director of the Education Policy Strategy Bureau of Daejeon City, said, "Through this project, we will systematically nurture talent needed for the region's strategic industries and actively support high school students so they can design their career paths more concretely."
