Earth Hour is the world's largest nature conservation campaign organized by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). It is a global lights-out event held for one hour from 8:30 PM on the last Saturday of March to raise awareness about climate change and environmental protection.

As the severity of the climate crisis grows day by day, the Earth Hour campaign is seen as a meaningful movement that goes beyond a simple lights-out event to promote practical actions in response to the climate crisis.

Started in Sydney, Australia in 2007, this campaign has become a global environmental movement with participation from over 180 countries and thousands of cities. Major world landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Opera House, and Times Square also turn off their lights to convey messages addressing the climate crisis.

Mayor Lee Dong-hwan stated, “The Earth Hour campaign is not just a one-hour lights-out event, but an important opportunity to raise citizens' awareness and encourage action to respond to climate change,” and urged citizens to actively participate, saying, “Please join us in taking a step toward carbon neutrality.”
