Seongdong-gu Operates Jangnangam Nuri Service... Select Desired Branch for Rental and Return Available

Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jung Won-oh) announced that it will implement the "Jangnangam Nuri Service," which allows toys to be borrowed and returned anywhere within the local "Jangnangam World."

Toys play an important role in promoting the growth of children during the early childhood period when the five senses develop, but purchasing new toys for each developmental stage can be a financial burden.

Accordingly, the district operates "Jangnangam World," which provides rental services for toys, childcare products, books, and more tailored to the growth stages of young children, thereby increasing satisfaction among residents, including parents with young children.

Seongdong-gu currently operates a total of five locations: Rainbow Jangnangam World (Basement 1st floor of Seongdong-gu Office), Geumho Jangnangam World (4th floor of Geumho 2·3-ga-dong Community Center), Wangsimni Jangnangam World (2nd floor of Wangsimni Church), Oksu Jangnangam World (3rd floor of Malgeunsaem Daycare Center), and Seongsu Jangnangam World, which opened last October. As of this year, approximately 1,390 members are registered and using the service.

Since March of this year, to improve user access and convenience, all branches of "Jangnangam World" have been integrated to provide the "Jangnangam Nuri (Inter-branch Loan) Service."

Through this, residents can borrow and return toys at any "Jangnangam World" branch with just one membership registration. This not only enhances the convenience of borrowing and returning toys but also broadens the selection of toys, which is expected to further aid children's play development and creativity.

To use the service, users can check the closed days and operating hours of each branch on the "Seongdong-gu Jangnangam World" website, then select and reserve the desired branch from Monday to Thursday.

The district also operates a "Visiting Jangnangam World" service for households with disabilities, pregnant or postpartum families, and families with three or more children who find it difficult to visit the centers. Each young child can borrow one toy or up to three books for a maximum of two weeks. Additionally, for preschool children, an extension of 15 days per year per child is supported. When borrowing toys, a collection service for returning previously borrowed toys is also available.

Seongdong-gu recorded the highest total fertility rate of 0.71 among all 25 districts in Seoul last year. In addition to "Jangnangam World," the expansion of national and public daycare centers, which boast the highest public childcare rate, the Seongdong Ai Sarang Complex Cultural Center, Children's Dream Park and Mall Playgrounds, operation of sledding hills, and the introduction of Seoul's first household care service for pregnant women are analyzed as key factors driving the increase in births through Seongdong-gu's proactive childbirth and childcare policies.

Jung Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "We expect that the 'Jangnangam Nuri Service' will further activate the use of 'Jangnangam World,' positively influencing the sensory and emotional development of young children and happy childcare." He added, "We will continue to build public infrastructure and provide high-quality childcare services that help children grow and develop healthily, completing a Seongdong that is good for having and raising children."
