Gwangju Gyeongsilryeon: "Recruitment for Head of Transportation Corporation Management Headquarters... Thorough Verification Needed"

"Half of the Candidates Are Former Employees... Includes Those Disciplined for Misconduct"

The Gwangju Citizens' Coalition for Economic Justice (hereafter Gwangju CCEJ) has called for a thorough personnel screening, pointing out that half of the candidates for the Gwangju Transportation Corporation's Head of Management Division recruitment are former employees of the corporation.

On the 19th, Gwangju CCEJ issued a statement saying, "Recently, the Gwangju Transportation Corporation (hereafter the Corporation) has been proceeding with the recruitment process for the Head of Management Division," and added, "Coincidentally, out of the four candidates who passed the document screening, two are former employees of the Corporation."

The statement continued, "According to the Corporation's website, the Executive Recommendation Committee will conduct interviews with the four candidates who passed the document screening on the 21st. The authority to appoint the Head of Management Division (executive) is, in formality, under the sole discretion of the Corporation's president," and pointed out, "Among them, Candidate A was reportedly investigated and disciplined by the Gwangju City Audit Committee for misconduct during their tenure."

Gwangju CCEJ further stated, "We strongly urge a thorough personnel screening for the four interview candidates," and warned, "All future responsibility will rest entirely with both the formal and the actual final appointing authorities."
