According to Goyang Special City on the 19th, the city attended the opening ceremony of the ‘Dongguk University BMC Regional Industry R&D Support Center’ on the 18th and signed separate memorandums of understanding with Dongguk University to promote regional industrial development, activate research and development (R&D), and establish a coffee research support center.
The purpose of this agreement is to promote regional development by transforming northern Gyeonggi into a global leading advanced industry R&D hub and creating an innovation ecosystem based on the local community.
The two institutions agreed to actively cooperate in areas including ▲establishing a regional industry R&D support center ▲industry-academia cooperation related to bio-medical and precision medicine ▲training professional talent ▲solving regional issues ▲operating an education development special zone ▲and establishing a coffee research support center.
The ‘Dongguk University BMC Regional Industry R&D Support Center’ is expected to become an open innovation platform where researchers and companies can break down barriers and collaborate across various fields such as bio-medical precision medicine and advanced technologies, rather than just a simple research facility.
The coffee research support center will analyze coffee components and provide customized technology to coffee industry companies in the region. Furthermore, it plans to promote coffee quality standardization, support consulting for high-quality production, and foster specialized development of the coffee industry through industry-academia cooperation.
Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang said in his congratulatory speech, “The opening of the R&D support center is a future-oriented challenge based on the research experience and achievements accumulated by Dongguk University,” adding, “We expect the center to establish itself as an R&D hub where creative talents can challenge themselves and grow.”
Through this cooperation, Goyang Special City plans to pool efforts to elevate northern Gyeonggi as a global advanced industry R&D hub and build a sustainable innovation ecosystem to enhance the global competitiveness of future industries such as bio and precision medicine.
