The Odong-dong Administrative Welfare Center in Masanhappo-gu, Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam, will carry out a comprehensive maintenance of over 400 large flowerpots installed as part of the urban regeneration project from the 19th to April 7th.
Among the more than 400 large flowerpots installed in Odong-dong, some have been left unattended for a long time with dead trees or trash discarded in them, damaging the cityscape, while others have trees that have grown excessively, making maintenance difficult.
In response, the Odong-dong Administrative Welfare Center held a meeting with the Changdong Merchants Association to discuss creating a pleasant urban commercial district, and agreed to maintain over 400 large flowerpots throughout the Changdong Street area and other locations within the jurisdiction.
A complete survey of the condition of the trees in the large flowerpots was finished by the 17th, and preliminary maintenance work such as removing dead trees and replenishing soil is currently underway in preparation for replanting.
Seo Moonbyeongcheol, president of the Changdong Merchants Association, said, "Thank you for paying attention to the environmental maintenance in the Changdong area," and added, "The merchants association will participate in the soil replenishment and tree planting work."
Choi Kyungcheol, head of Odong-dong, stated, "The urban environment is closely connected to the lives of local residents and is very important," and continued, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with the local merchants association to minimize inconveniences experienced by residents."
