Goyang Point Hospital, Blood Donation of Love..."The Most Precious Gift to Save Lives"

Practicing "Sharing Life Through Blood Donation"

Amid a recent shortage of blood leading to an increase in patients unable to undergo surgery, Point Hospital in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, conducted a Love Blood Donation Campaign.

According to Point Hospital on the 19th, the blood donation event was held within the hospital, with 30 hospital staff members, including medical personnel, voluntarily participating to create an opportunity to share life.

Point Hospital invited the Korean Red Cross blood donation bus to assist employees and visitors in participating in blood donation.

On the day of the blood donation event, Kim, a guardian of a patient who visited Point Hospital for outpatient treatment, said, “A month ago, I was waiting for surgery for a hip fracture caused by trauma and the surgery schedule was delayed due to a shortage of blood at the blood center, which was frustrating. However, with the active cooperation of Point Hospital, the surgery was performed and the patient was discharged after four days.” He added, “Recalling that time, I decided to join this blood donation event to help other patients in need of blood.”

According to the Blood Management Headquarters of the Korean Red Cross, the domestic blood supply has fallen below the stable level (five days’ worth), causing delays in surgery schedules for patients. This is especially affecting critically ill patients requiring emergency surgery and those suffering from blood disorders, prompting the medical community to actively encourage participation in blood donation.

Na Gi-tae, director of Point Hospital, said, “It is very unfortunate that there are patients who cannot receive treatment due to a lack of blood,” and added, “We will lead by example starting with medical staff participating in blood donation and strive to establish a continuous blood donation culture to contribute to saving patients’ lives.”

Point Hospital plans to expand regular social contribution activities based on this blood donation campaign.

A hospital official said, “We hope many citizens recognize the importance of blood donation and participate,” and added, “Please do not forget that blood donation is the most precious gift that saves lives.”
