Sijimedtec Breaks Ground on New Factory... Production Capacity Expected to Increase by 300%

Orthopedic implant research and manufacturing specialist company CJ MedTech announced on the 19th that it is planning to build a new factory with an area of 2,299㎡ (approximately 700 pyeong). Through the construction of the new factory, it is expected to significantly increase its orthopedic implant production capacity by 2034 and serve as an important turning point to further strengthen its competitiveness in the global market.

CJ MedTech expects to expand its production facilities more than twice compared to the existing ones and reorganize its production system through the new factory, increasing the annual production volume of orthopedic metal implant products from 200,000 units to over 600,000 units, approximately a 300% increase. Additionally, it plans to introduce mass production facilities for patient-customized 3D printing to enhance the precise and efficient production of patient-specific medical devices and continuously improve its competitiveness in the global market.

The existing CJ MedTech factory operates based on a quality system that has obtained domestic and international quality certifications such as Korea Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) for excellent medical device manufacturing and quality control, international medical device quality certification (ISO 13485), Brazilian medical device quality certification (Brazil GMP), and Ukrainian quality certification (Ukrainian technical regulations). It also meets quality standards in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) inspections and operates stably.

The new factory will also be operated applying the same quality management standards as the existing factory. Through this, systematic management will be implemented to maximize product safety and reliability throughout the entire production process and maintain consistent quality. Furthermore, by establishing a production environment that meets strict quality standards, it is expected to further enhance the performance and stability of medical devices. Based on this, the company plans to provide more trusted medical solutions to customers and solidify its position in the global market.

The new factory is scheduled to begin construction this month and aims for completion by October. This is a strategic investment to accelerate CJ MedTech’s global market expansion. Through this, it is expected to greatly expand production capacity, strengthen next-generation medical device development and manufacturing capabilities, and enhance global competitiveness. Moreover, by expanding research and development (R&D) investment and leveraging innovative technology, the company plans to further solidify its position in the medical device industry and lay the foundation for sustainable growth. In particular, as CJ MedTech has been certified as an ‘Innovative Leap-type Medical Device Company’ designated by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, it is expanding its R&D capabilities and promoting the development of differentiated medical solutions.

Jung Joo-mi, CEO of CJ MedTech, stated, “The construction of this new factory is an important turning point that will take CJ MedTech’s growth to the next level. By establishing a production base equipped with advanced manufacturing facilities and innovative R&D capabilities, it is expected to become a core hub that further strengthens our competitiveness in the global market. Through this, we plan to solidify our position as a leading company in the medical device industry, continue sustainable growth, and contribute to creating a more advanced medical environment.”

She added, “Along with the construction of the new factory, we will continuously promote the expansion of R&D investment and strengthening of global partnerships to provide differentiated medical solutions and enhance competitiveness in the global medical device market.”
