The film 'Pagwa' is set to be released on May 1, the distributor NEW announced on the 19th.
The title Pagwa carries a double meaning of "flawed but perfect as it ripens." It is a film adaptation of the best-selling novel of the same name by author Gu Byeong-mo, depicting a showdown between a killer who has worked for over 40 years in an organization that deals with cockroach-like humans and another killer who has pursued him all his life.
Actress Lee Hye-young plays the central role of a killer in her 60s, with Kim Seong-cheol and Yeon Woo-jin also starring. The film is directed by Min Kyu-dong, known for 'The Treacherous' (2015) and 'Herstory' (2018).
The film was unveiled through its world premiere screening at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival last February.
