On the 18th, local lawmakers and the head of a community research institute from the Democratic Party of Korea in Boryeong and Seocheon, South Chungcheong Province, held a head-shaving protest, calling for the immediate dismissal of President Yoon Suk-yeol.
Jeon Ikhyeon, a member of the South Chungcheong Provincial Council, Kim Ajin and Lee Gangseon, members of the Seocheon County Council, and Yoo Seungkwang, head of the Community Research Institute, shaved their heads at the Spring Village Square in Seocheon County, witnessed by Democratic Party members and local residents.
In a statement released that day, they claimed, "It has been over 100 days since President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law by mobilizing the military in an unconstitutional and illegal manner on December 3 last year. Yoon Suk-yeol and his accomplices are inciting extreme riots and agitation, causing social division and chaos, and undermining the constitutional order."
They emphasized, "An immediate dismissal decision by the Constitutional Court is the fastest way to end social and economic turmoil early and to restore normalcy to the people’s daily lives. It is the only way to demonstrate that our democratic constitutional order can be restored."
They further urged, "For the swift normalization of the Republic of Korea and the protection of democracy, we call on the Constitutional Court to promptly dismiss Yoon Suk-yeol, the ringleader of insurrection."
