Jang Mikyung, Chairperson of the Planning and Administration Committee of the Gumi City Council in North Gyeongsang Province, visited the Gyeongju City Council and Hwang-o Community Center on the 17th during the 285th extraordinary session to explore policy exchanges and ways to revitalize the old downtown area.
On the 17th, the Planning and Administration Committee of the Gumi City Council visited the Gyeongju City Council and Hwao Community Center during the 285th extraordinary session to exchange policies and explore ways to revitalize the old downtown area.
On this day, the Planning and Administration Committee visited the Gyeongju City Council to share key policies such as smart city development, cultural heritage preservation and tourism promotion, and the enhancement of resident welfare, and discussed possible avenues for cooperation.
The Gyeongju City Council has identified sustainable urban development, revitalization of the tourism industry, and responses to an aging society as its core tasks. These issues are closely related to the challenges faced by Gumi City, leading to in-depth discussions.
The Hwang-o Community Center, which was visited next, is a facility contributing to local revitalization through urban landscape improvement projects and is regarded as a successful example of old downtown regeneration.
At this location, the committee members listened to a project briefing from the Urban Regeneration and Railroad Division of Gyeongju City Hall and toured the Hwangchon Village area to observe the impact of public facilities on improving the quality of life for local residents.
In particular, they exchanged opinions on community connectivity and sustainable development strategies through resident participation programs.
The committee members agreed that public facilities should function as hubs that promote communication and cooperation among local residents, rather than merely as physical spaces.
Chairperson Jang Mikyung stated, "We were able to confirm that customized policies tailored to local characteristics and the creative establishment of public facilities play an important role in urban development," and added, "Based on this benchmarking, we will strive to achieve tangible policy outcomes."
