According to the Special Investigation Unit of the National Police Agency on the 18th, the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office has filed arrest warrants for Deputy Chief Kim and Head Lee.

They are accused of obstructing the execution of an arrest warrant against President Yoon Seok-yeol, making unjust personnel decisions, and ordering the deletion of records related to burner phones, among other charges (obstruction of special official duties and abuse of authority).

The prosecution had previously dismissed the police's requests for arrest warrants or demanded supplementary investigations. However, the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office Warrant Review Committee expressed on the 6th that filing arrest warrants for Deputy Chief Kim and Head Lee was appropriate.

A representative of the Special Investigation Unit stated at a regular press briefing the previous day, “Since the warrants were dismissed three times, we conducted supplementary investigations and meticulously organized the documents,” adding, “We also held necessary consultations with the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO).”
