Connecting Resident Companies with Investment Institutions
Expanding Number of Companies Participating in CES, Supporting Overseas Market Entry
The 'Daejeon Startup Park Headquarters,' which aims to enhance the competitiveness of startups and support their leap into becoming global companies, was officially launched on the 18th.
The city of Daejeon held the opening ceremony for the Daejeon Startup Park Headquarters at Gungdong-ro 2beon-gil, Yuseong-gu, with Mayor Lee Jangwoo, Lim Jungwook, Director of Startup and Venture Innovation at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Cho Wonhui, Chairman of the Daejeon City Council, and Jung Yongrae, Mayor of Yuseong-gu, in attendance.
Daejeon Startup Park was selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Startup Park establishment project in 2020, and 42.23 billion won was invested in this startup support space. The facility consists of two underground floors and four above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 11,592 square meters.
The city has prepared 27 startup spaces at the headquarters to ensure that startups can grow stably and enter the global market. Currently, 22 spaces are occupied, and the remaining 5 are being recruited.
The city plans to actively support the expansion of startup spaces and attract investment through private sector collaboration. By working with private institutions such as Hana Bank and Korea Water Resources Corporation, new startup spaces will be created and investment attraction will be strengthened. The current seven buildings and 54 startup spaces in the Gungdong area will be expanded to Wolpyeong-dong, increasing the total to 12 buildings and 117 startup spaces.
In addition, investment institutions such as accelerators (AC), venture capital (VC), and Daejeon Investment Finance will be located in the park to connect with companies.
Global expansion support will also be strengthened so that growing companies can continue to develop in Daejeon. The city expanded support for participation in CES, the world’s largest consumer electronics and technology exhibition, increasing the number of supported startups from 20 in 2024 to 33 in 2025. The city plans to further expand the number of companies participating in CES and actively support promising startups in entering overseas markets.
Mayor Lee Jangwoo of Daejeon said, “We will spare no systematic support to ensure startups can grow stably,” and added, “We will expand startup spaces centered around Gungdong, Eoeun-dong, and Wolpyeong-dong, and strengthen continuous consulting and investment attraction support.”
