The police conducted a joint combined training exercise with riot police units nationwide in preparation for the impeachment ruling day of President Yoon Suk-yeol.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 18th, the training involved more than 2,700 personnel from a total of 45 units, including eight riot police units under the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and units from other city and provincial police agencies.
The police focused on practical training assuming a situation to maintain police cordons on the day of the ruling.
In particular, to enhance the response capability against illegal and violent acts, the training was conducted while wearing body protection gear and using distancing sprayers and police batons.
A police official stated, "We plan to continue education and training until the ruling day to maintain order with the highest priority on citizen safety."
