Kim Kyung-ho, Gwangjin District Mayor, On-site Inspection of Safety Vulnerable Areas During Thawing Season

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) conducted safety inspections on the 17th by visiting major sites within the district and checked the status of civil complaint measures.

First, in preparation for the thawing season, they examined safety-vulnerable areas with a high risk of accidents due to temperature changes. Since the 17th of last month, the district has formed a joint inspection team including private experts to conduct inspections at 55 locations such as steep slopes, road facilities, and construction sites.

Among these, Mayor Kim Kyung-ho personally visited five high-risk sites within the district and focused on inspecting ▲the occurrence of rockfalls on slopes ▲damage and leaks in facilities ▲and the construction status of construction sites.

He thoroughly ensured accident prevention by inspecting railings, stairs, and rockfall prevention nets on slopes around Yonggok Elementary and Middle Schools, which are steep slope areas in the district. He then visited the construction site of the Hongryeonbong Fortress Ruins Protection Facility, scheduled for completion in June 2026, to focus on inspecting the foundation ground and construction status, urging strict compliance with safety regulations.

He also inspected the underground passage and roadway in front of Gwangjang Middle School, classified as a Type 3 facility. After checking for road subsidence and the cleanliness of drainage facilities, Mayor Kim checked the installed facilities such as benches in the Gwangjang-dong Humanities Street to ensure there were no elements compromising residents' safety.

The district plans to complete safety inspections by the 28th of this month, immediately correcting urgent hazards and swiftly improving items requiring repair and reinforcement, while continuing ongoing management.

In the afternoon, on-site inspections of civil complaints were conducted. Mayor Kim visited the site of the newly installed rainwater drain at the Olympic Bridge North Intersection bus stop in Guui 3-dong, where complaints about foul odors had been raised, carefully examining the improved environment. He also visited sites where facilities such as two-way convex mirrors were requested, reviewed planned measures, and thoroughly checked for road inconveniences discovered during his travels, dedicating full efforts to public safety.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “The risk of safety accidents has increased due to repeated large temperature differences. To prevent various accidents, I conducted inspections by personally visiting the sites,” adding, “Safety is the top priority that can never be overemphasized. We will continue to do our best in proactive responses and thorough management and supervision so that residents can live with peace of mind.”
