Customized Play Programs for Children
From Elementary School to Infants and Toddlers
In an era where spaces for children to play freely are diminishing, Gwangsan-gu is attracting attention by providing customized play programs for children. On the 18th, Gwangsan-gu announced that it would support play activities tailored to the developmental stages of children, from infants to elementary school students, to help them grow up healthy.
Last month, Gwangsan-gu launched the "Fly Dunk Shot! Basketball Class" for 12 children in grades 4 to 6 of the Dream Start program. The participating children received personal sports equipment such as uniforms and basketballs, and learned basic skills like dribbling and rebounding from a dedicated instructor. This program, in cooperation with Woo Jiwon Basketball Academy, will run for a total of 20 weeks until June.
Play activities for infants and toddlers are also being offered. Since the 4th, the "Let's Play Together! Children's Playground" project has been providing a customized care program in which a play activity manager visits homes directly. Each child receives support for activities such as music play, using picture books, and physical activities, with classes held for 48 hours per month. In addition, Gwangsan-gu is running various emotional and cognitive development programs such as Kkakkung Baby reading and family art therapy.
Park Byungkyu, the head of the district office, said, "We will create a strong environment together with the local community so that children can develop their bodies and minds through age-appropriate play."
