Changwon Special City to Open US Navy Base on April 5 for Jinhae Gunhangje Festival

A Special Opportunity to Experience American Culture

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam announced on the 18th that, in celebration of the 63rd Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, the U.S. Navy base located in Jinhae will be open to the public for one day on April 5.

This event allows Jinhae Gunhangje Festival visitors to experience American culture by visiting the U.S. Navy base. The event will be held only on April 5, and in case of rain, it will take place on April 6. Inside the base, there will be an American food corner, photo zones, and an air bounce for children. Additionally, there will be craft-making, face painting, and exhibition events.


Entry to the base is permitted from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and all visitors must bring identification. Elementary school students must be accompanied by a guardian, and teenagers are required to present a student ID or youth ID. Visitors can only tour the base on foot.


Lee Seongmin, Director of Culture, Tourism and Sports, stated, "The opening of the U.S. Navy base is a special opportunity that can only be experienced during the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival," and added, "We hope many citizens and tourists will visit and enjoy the various programs."


Meanwhile, from 1:30 p.m. on April 5, the National Defense Parade will be held at Jinhae Public Stadium, and at 2 p.m., the Air Force Black Eagles air show will also take place, offering a variety of attractions for festival visitors.
