Gwangju Seo-gu Opens 9th Cheonwon Guksi Branch in Sangmu 2-dong

Sold at 1,000 Won for Seniors Over 60 and Low-Income Residents

Gwangju Seo-gu (District Mayor Kim Ikang) has opened the 'Cheonwon Guksi No. 9' in Sangmu 2-dong on the 18th, providing a place where residents can enjoy affordable meals.

According to Seo-gu, Cheonwon Guksi No. 9 will operate under the concept of "365 Sharing Day - A Good Day to Share All Year Round," reflecting the BI (Brand Identity) of Sangmu 2-dong, "Nanum Maeul."

Cheonwon Guksi is a representative policy of Seo-gu that realizes the value of a "Good City" by creating jobs for seniors, spreading a culture of sharing, and promoting the consumption of domestic wheat. Each store sells 100 bowls per day to seniors and neighbors in need.

The noodles will be sold to local volunteers at 1,000 won per bowl, and the same price will apply to seniors over 60, legally recognized low-income individuals, pregnant women, and children under 7 years old.

Seo-gu plans to install a sharing refrigerator in the store to provide donated food ingredients or meals to neighbors in need free of charge. The district also plans to use the 9th branch as a hub for spreading the culture of sharing by distributing eco-friendly household goods made from coffee grounds, such as firewood and deodorizer, for free and operating an upcycling experience center.

Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "We will spare no effort to support Cheonwon Guksi No. 9 so that it can become not only a place that provides affordable meals to local residents, but also a sharing space that considers the environment."

Meanwhile, Rotary International District 3710 (Governor Baek Hyunok) has donated 15 million won to support the operation of Cheonwon Guksi No. 9.
