For Commercial Buildings and More...
"Supplying Safe Tap Water"
Imsil County in North Jeolla Province has sent out notifications regarding the implementation of water tank cleaning for the first half of 2025, targeting local apartment complexes, public facilities, and commercial buildings.
According to the county on the 18th, this notification was issued to provide residents with clean and safe tap water.
Facilities required to clean their water tanks include buildings with a total floor area of 5,000 square meters or more, office facilities with a total floor area of 3,000 square meters or more, complex buildings with a total floor area of 2,000 square meters or more, apartments (residential buildings with five or more floors), and other welfare facilities.
Managers or owners of the applicable buildings or facilities must conduct regular water tank cleaning at least once every six months in accordance with Article 33 of the Water Supply Act and Article 22-3 of its enforcement regulations. They are also required to implement hygiene measures such as water quality testing at least once a year. Violation of these regulations may result in imprisonment for up to two years or a fine of up to 20 million KRW, pursuant to Article 83 of the Water Supply Act.
The county considers April to May, when water temperatures rise and various viruses and bacteria can develop in water tanks, as the optimal period for cleaning. Therefore, notifications and promotions are being carried out to encourage voluntary cleaning by owners or managers of the required facilities.
County Governor Sim Min stated, "Cleaning water tanks is an essential measure to ensure the safety of tap water," and added, "We will continue thorough management and inspections so that residents can use clean water with peace of mind."
