The Leisure Sports Town Development Project, being promoted in the area around the Comprehensive Sports Complex (200,000 pyeong), aims to transform the Comprehensive Sports Complex and surrounding sports facilities, which were previously operated mainly for elite sports, into spaces easily accessible to all citizens. Through this project, the city plans to build sports infrastructure that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and promote the revitalization of community sports.
The request included a proposal for 10 billion KRW in funding for facility improvement projects aimed at ▲ renovating the aging facilities of the Comprehensive Sports Complex ▲ activating facility usage ▲ contributing to regional development.
After touring the Comprehensive Sports Complex area, Minister Yoo In-chon expressed, “We will consider active cooperation measures,” raising expectations for the project’s progress.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun emphasized, “Through the development of the Leisure Sports Town, sports welfare in the Nokyang-dong area will be realized, and the utilization rate of the Comprehensive Sports Complex will significantly increase,” adding, “We will do our best to secure funding so that the project can proceed without setbacks and look forward to positive consideration from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.”
If national support becomes visible through the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the stable securing of funds is expected to give momentum to the promotion of the Leisure Sports Town Development Project.
