Applications Accepted Until May 16
"Stabilizing Farmers' Incomes"

Jeongeup City, North Jeolla Province, announced on the 18th that it is accepting applications for the 'Farmer Public Benefit Allowance' to maintain the public functions of agriculture and support the income stability of farmers.

Starting this year, the payment method has changed from household-based to individual-based, allowing more farmers to benefit.

The Farmer Public Benefit Allowance is a support system that recognizes the public values of agriculture such as environmental conservation, landscape maintenance, and food security. Applications can be submitted at eup, myeon, and dong administrative welfare centers until May 16.

Eligible applicants are farmers who registered as agricultural business entities before December 31, 2023, and have had their address in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province for at least one year. Crop farmers must cultivate farmland of at least 1,000 square meters. Beekeepers must be registered in Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province as of January 1 of this year.

With the change in the payment method this year, single-person business entities will continue to receive 600,000 won per year as before, but for entities with two or more members, each member will receive 300,000 won. For example, a three-person entity will receive 900,000 won in total.

However, farmers with non-agricultural income of 37 million won or more in 2023, those who received subsidies fraudulently last year, those who committed illegal acts related to farmland, forest land, or beekeeping, or those who were administratively sanctioned for illegally burning agricultural by-products or waste agricultural materials will be excluded from eligibility.

Farmers wishing to apply should prepare the application form and required documents and submit them to the village head or the eup, myeon, or dong administrative welfare center in their area within the application period. Farmers residing in urban areas must submit additional documents proving that agriculture is their main occupation.

After the application period ends, the city will review the qualifications of applicants and finalize the recipients. The confirmed recipients will receive the payment collectively in September in the form of Jeongeup Sarang gift certificates.

Mayor Lee Haksoo said, "We expect that the Farmer Public Benefit Allowance will help stabilize farmers' incomes and contribute to creating a sustainable agricultural environment," adding, "We will continue to work with Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province to prepare various support measures for farmers."
