He is a world-renowned authority in the field of toxicology and has served as a professor at Seoul National University College of Pharmacy for 34 years since 1988, researching the human toxicity of chemical substances contained in drugs, food, and the atmosphere, as well as the human safety of hazardous chemicals.
The meeting was attended by President Jung and Kim Sung-jin, who was appointed as the first female Executive Vice President since the Academy's establishment in 1994. They shared their aspirations for their appointments and explained the Academy's main project directions and key initiatives for 2025.
Executive Vice President Kim Sung-jin said, "We will do our best to activate communication and collaboration between field researchers and legislative and administrative experts from the National Assembly and government, and we will also strive to enhance the international status of Korean science and technology based on the international networks and leadership that the Academy has built over the years."
This year, the Academy introduced projects such as academic events with advanced national academies in Germany, Italy, and Sweden in the field of international cooperation, as well as a series of Academy roundtable discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) topics starting in April.
