Gyeonggi Province is set to actively promote the ‘Regional and Industry Customized Job Creation Support Project,’ which supports the creation of tailored jobs reflecting local characteristics in cooperation with cities and counties.
This project is divided into the ‘Regional and Industry Customized Local Government Contest Project’ and the ‘Industrial Complex Employment Environment Improvement Project,’ aiming to support vulnerable employment groups within the region (such as youth and women with career interruptions), resolve job mismatches, and improve the employment environment in industrial complexes.
Earlier in January this year, Gyeonggi Province conducted a project contest targeting cities and counties, and through evaluations involving external committee members, selected 26 projects from 17 cities and counties as final support targets. The selected cities and counties include Suwon, Yongin, Goyang, Seongnam, Bucheon, Namyangju, Ansan, Pyeongtaek, Paju, Gwangju, Gwangmyeong, Yangju, Osan, Icheon, Anseong, Yangpyeong, and Gapyeong.
Gyeonggi Province plans to support up to 90% of the project budget based on the financial independence of each city and county, providing a total of 2 billion KRW in provincial funds to ensure smooth project implementation.
After disbursing the project funds within this month, Gyeonggi Province intends to select outstanding cases upon project completion and develop them into sustainable regional job models.
Jung Doo-seok, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Economic Office, stated, "This project goes beyond the existing short-term job support by reflecting the local characteristics, key industries, and transportation inconveniences in industrial complexes of each city and county. Gyeonggi Province will continue to work with cities and counties to implement various policies aimed at resolving job mismatches and improving working conditions."
