Gyeonggi-do Opens 'Emergency Care Center for People with Developmental Disabilities' in Yongin

The ‘Emergency Care Center for People with Developmental Disabilities,’ which provides care services in urgent situations such as hospitalization or accidents involving guardians of people with developmental disabilities, has opened in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.


Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that on the 17th, it established the province’s only metropolitan emergency care center, the ‘Emergency Care Center for People with Developmental Disabilities,’ in Suji-gu, Yongin City, and began full-scale operations.


Gyeonggi Province previously operated a pilot center in Uijeongbu for two years, and with the pilot project completed, it transitioned to the main project and opened the center in Yongin this time.


The center provides customized care services tailored to the characteristics and needs of people with developmental disabilities, with professional staff on duty 24 hours a day.

The capacity is 4 males and 4 females, and each admission can be used for a minimum of 1 day up to a maximum of 7 days. Support is available for up to 30 days annually. The daily usage fee is 15,000 KRW, and the meal fee is 15,000 KRW. Recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security and low-income households are exempt from the usage fee and only need to pay for meals.

Kim Hana, Director of the Welfare Bureau of Gyeonggi Province, said, "The Emergency Care Center for People with Developmental Disabilities is not just a simple protective space but a reliable support that people with disabilities and their families can lean on during their most difficult moments," adding, "We will continue to do our best so that people with disabilities and their families can reduce their caregiving burdens and lead more stable lives."
