Enjoy Authentic Argentine Tango with Live Music
World-renowned GD Tango Dancers and the Fabrizio Mocata Quartet
Experience Passionate Dance and Timeless Tango Melodies
On April 22, Mapo Cultural Foundation announced on the 18th that it will hold a performance titled 'Tango Argentina' at Mapo Art Center Art Hall Mac, where audiences can enjoy the charm of authentic Argentine tango with live music.
Six GD Tango dancers, who perform worldwide, along with the Fabrizio Mocata Quartet and tango soprano Ivanna Speranza, will visit Korea for the first time to present passionate tango dance and live performances.
GD Tango is a tango group centered around the duo Guillermo De Fazio and Giovanna Dan. Fazio and Dan spent their childhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the birthplace of tango. Currently residing in Los Angeles (LA), USA, they perform worldwide to promote the allure of tango. Recently, they performed at the Los Angeles Philharmonic and the Hollywood Bowl outdoor music venue.

The Fabrizio Mocata Quartet, responsible for the music, is an original ensemble that reinterprets traditional Argentine tango with a modern sensibility. The team consists of leader Fabrizio Mocata (piano), Mauro Carpi (violin), Makila Vadesi (double bass), and Pablo Yamil (bandoneon). Fabrizio Mocata, the leader, is a pianist from Sicily, Italy, and a rising Latin music composer. He has built his own musical world by breaking down the boundaries between tango and jazz. His works, which incorporate classical and jazz musical elements into traditional tango music, were nominated last year for the Best Tango Album category at the 25th Latin Grammy Awards.
On this stage, audiences can experience live performances of tango music spanning past and present, from masterpieces by tango legends Astor Piazzolla and Carlos Gardel to contemporary compositions by Fabrizio Mocata. Expect passionate dance moves from the GD Tango dancers to the diverse tango melodies such as "Por Una Cabeza," famous as the original soundtrack (OST) of the movie "Scent of a Woman," and "El Dia Que Me Quieras," known as a remake OST of the movie "A Moment to Remember."
Tango soprano Ivanna Speranza will present a unique tango vocal performance enriched with classical techniques and vocal depth.
'Tango Argentina' is part of the 'M Dance Festival' series introduced by the Mapo Cultural Foundation. The foundation plans the M Dance Festival series with a repertoire that highlights Mapo's unique cultural identity, where various cultures coexist as a hub of diverse subcultures such as indie music centered around Hongdae, as well as tango, tap dance, and swing dance.
Ticket prices for Tango Argentina are 80,000 KRW for R seats and 60,000 KRW for S seats. Reservations and detailed information can be found on the foundation's website.
