Osan-si, Recruiting Participants for 'Native Speaker Online English Education Program'

This program aims to provide English education opportunities to elementary, middle, and high school students within the city, as well as youth of the corresponding age group, and to improve practical English conversation skills.

The classes are conducted as online video sessions where one native speaker instructor from overseas interacts in real-time with one or three students. After signing up, students take a test to receive personalized lessons tailored to their individual proficiency levels.

The education period is a two-month course from the 1st of next month to May 30th. For one-on-one classes, students can choose a preferred time slot for 60 minutes per week, and for one-to-three classes, 90 minutes per week. Tuition fees are subsidized by 50% for general students. The one-on-one class costs 60,000 KRW, and the one-to-three class costs 29,000 KRW. Socially disadvantaged groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, low-income individuals eligible for reduced personal expenses, and persons with disabilities are eligible for full tuition waivers.

The total number of students to be enrolled is approximately 4,740. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis from 9 PM on the 18th until the 23rd through 'osanenglish.com'. The city plans to operate the program in four sessions this year, including this first session. Sessions two through four are scheduled for June, August, and October.

Lee Kwon-jae, Mayor of Osan City, said, "Through this program, I hope students will have easier opportunities to communicate with native speakers and build confidence in English." He added, "We will continue to promote various educational policies to nurture future talents."
