In his message, Minister Yoo said, "I congratulate An Se-young, who has reached the top of the world, together with the entire nation," and added, "By conquering the 2025 Malaysia Open, India Open, Orl?ans Masters, and All England Open, she has achieved the remarkable feat of winning four consecutive international tournaments this year, demonstrating Korea's strength to badminton fans worldwide."
He also encouraged her by saying, "Despite experiencing thigh pain and not being in the best physical condition during this tournament, the intense match against Wang Zhi until the very end was a wonderful game that deeply moved the public," and "I look forward to seeing her showcase her outstanding skills freely on the world stage in the future."
The 'All England Open Badminton Championships,' organized by the Badminton World Federation, is the oldest and most prestigious tournament in the world, established in 1899. Before the BWF founded the World Championships in 1977, it was regarded as the de facto world championship.
Since her first victory in 2023, An Se-young reclaimed the top spot after two years, becoming the first Korean player to win the women's singles title at the All England Open twice. Prior to An Se-young, Hwang Sun-ae (1981), Kim Yun-ja (1986), and Bang Soo-hyun (1996) won the women's singles title. There has yet to be a Korean winner in the men's singles category.
