Since its inception in 2011, the Resident Participatory Budget Committee, now in its 14th year, has contributed to enhancing the transparency and efficiency of the budget by participating in the budget formulation process, gathering residents' opinions, and directly selecting participatory budget projects.

At this Chairpersons' meeting, the chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, along with the heads of each subcommittee, attended to review the 2024 operational achievements and discuss the operational plans for 2025. They also shared concrete alternatives for more substantial committee operations.

In particular, in-depth discussions were held on subcommittee-specific operational plans to encourage active participation from all members, the operation of budget schools to strengthen expertise, and monitoring activities to verify the appropriateness of project implementation.

Chairman Lee Hyun-dong stated, “The Resident Participatory Budget Committee plays an important role in reflecting the diverse voices of citizens in city administration,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to ensure that essential proposed projects reflecting residents' intentions and voices are selected as participatory budget projects.”

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “We will continue to actively strive to reflect various citizen opinions in the budget formulation process,” and added, “We will do our utmost to strengthen communication with residents for a more systematic and effective operation of the participatory budget system.”
