First Deal with Taiwan's Evergreen
24,000 TEU-Class Dual-Fuel Propulsion
Hanwha Ocean has secured an order for six 24,000 TEU liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel propulsion ultra-large container ships. The contract is worth 388.1 billion KRW per ship, totaling 2.3286 trillion KRW. This is the highest-ever contract amount for ultra-large container ships capable of transporting 24,000 containers at once.
Hanwha Ocean announced on the 17th that it had received an order for six eco-friendly ultra-large container ships from Taiwan's Evergreen on the 14th. The ultra-large container ships ordered this time measure 400 meters in length and 61.5 meters in width. These vessels will be equipped with dual-fuel propulsion engines, along with the shaft generator motor (SGM), air lubrication system (ALS), and other latest eco-friendly technologies developed by Hanwha Ocean.

Evergreen is one of the global container shipping companies operating a fleet of over 200 vessels. With this contract, Hanwha Ocean has established its first cooperation with Evergreen, securing a new customer. Evergreen is reportedly planning additional new ship orders. Hanwha Ocean stated that it intends to build a long-term business relationship starting with this contract.
Hanwha Ocean has the most experience in building ultra-large container ships worldwide. According to Clarkson Research statistics as of the end of February, there are currently 358 ultra-large container ships of 17,000 TEU or more operating worldwide. Among them, Hanwha Ocean has built the largest number of 72 ships at a single shipyard, ranking first in market share.
