The "Interior Architecture (Home Repair) Technician Training," launched for the first time this year, is designed to empower residents to independently address major issues in aging homes such as insulation and electrical problems. This initiative aims to strengthen housing welfare and establish a virtuous cycle that leads to volunteer work and job creation.

This training program is offered through customized lectures by professional education companies, covering the basic, advanced, and expert courses. The basic course will be held six times in total from the 2nd of next month to May 13, with weekly 4-hour sessions combining theory and practice. Participants will acquire practical skills applicable to daily life, including tool usage, electrical work, plumbing, general repairs, and window installation.

To enhance accessibility for residents, the training will be conducted in three areas: Mok-dong, Sinwol-dong, and Sinjeong-dong. The schedule is diversified to include weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as weekend afternoons, allowing both students and working professionals to participate.

Residents wishing to enroll in the basic course can apply through the "Yangcheon-gu Lifelong Learning Portal" from the 17th to the 21st of this month. A total of 60 participants will be selected based on a written review of their commitment to continuous participation and the purpose of taking the course. Anyone aged 20 or older residing in Yangcheon-gu is eligible to apply, and the tuition fee is 30,000 KRW.

After the basic course, advanced and expert courses will be offered step-by-step for those aspiring to become home repair specialists. The advanced course includes acquiring advanced skills such as woodworking, electrical work, wallpapering, and bathroom tiling, along with field training targeting vulnerable households. The expert course provides specialized technical education for obtaining certifications like the Interior Architecture Technician license and supports employment and entrepreneurship.

Upon completion of the training, participants will have opportunities to apply the knowledge and skills gained through volunteer home repair activities for vulnerable groups and various practical projects, supporting their growth into experts.

Mayor Lee Gi-jae stated, "Through this training, we hope residents will acquire home repair skills, engage in volunteer activities for vulnerable groups, and develop a second career, contributing to the co-growth of the local community." He added, "We will continue to expand practical education programs that directly benefit the lives of our residents."
