"Normalization of the Nation Needed Through the Impeachment of Yoon"
The Democratic Party of Korea on the 15th expressed concern over a rift in the South Korea-U.S. alliance following the U.S. addition of South Korea to the 'sensitive countries list' last January, arguing that the normalization of the nation through the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol is necessary.
Spokesperson Kim Seong-hoe stated at a briefing that day, "We must promptly impeach and end this dangerous regime that shakes the South Korea-U.S. alliance on top of internal rebellion."
Spokesperson Kim said, "There are cracks forming in the South Korea-U.S. alliance, a major pillar of our security," adding, "Experts analyze that the reason for the designation as a sensitive country lies in statements by Yoon Seok-yeol and People Power Party politicians about independent nuclear armament and securing nuclear capabilities."
Kim added, "Normalizing South Korea and restoring national security begins with the swift impeachment of the traitorous leader who forgets the weight of the presidency and foolishly spoke of 'independent nuclear armament capabilities' in the U.S.," urging, "The Constitutional Court should deeply consider this and deliver a prompt judgment."
Members of the Democratic Party and the Party for National Innovation on the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee held an emergency press conference in Gwanghwamun, criticizing, "What has the government been doing during all this?" and stating, "The intelligence agencies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must be held accountable for failing to perform their roles."
They continued, "We must exert all efforts in the remaining month before implementation to achieve the withdrawal of the sensitive country designation," adding, "We must immediately impeach Yoon Seok-yeol, the root cause of all this chaos, restore South Korea as a normal nation, and reestablish the diplomatic and security control tower."
