Foot-and-mouth disease has been additionally confirmed in Yeongam County, Jeollanam-do.


According to Jeollanam-do Province and the Central Accident Response Headquarters for Foot-and-Mouth Disease on the 15th, three Hanwoo cattle farms in Yeongam County, Jeollanam-do, have tested positive for foot-and-mouth disease.


This was additionally confirmed during a comprehensive inspection of farms within a 3km radius, following the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease at a farm in Dopyo-myeon, Yeongam County, Jeollanam-do, on the 14th.


A total of 27 cattle tested positive for foot-and-mouth disease at the three farms confirmed on this day.


Jeollanam-do Province and the Central Accident Response Headquarters have dispatched initial quarantine teams and epidemiological investigators to each farm to control access and are implementing emergency quarantine measures such as disinfection.


Meanwhile, foot-and-mouth disease occurs when cloven-hoofed animals such as cattle, pigs, and sheep are infected with the foot-and-mouth disease virus, and it is designated as a first-class livestock infectious disease in Korea.
