Appearance on YTN Radio's "Shin Yul's News Face-off"
Direct Criticism of Leader Lee Jaemyung
Lee Nak-yeon, Senior Advisor of the New Future Democratic Party, pointed out that the Democratic Party of Korea and its leader Lee Jae-myung should take responsibility for the 'serial impeachments and serial dismissals.'
On the 14th, Lee appeared on YTN Radio's "Shin Yul's News Face-off" and stated, "In less than three years, the Democratic Party attempted impeachment 29 times, resulting in 13 impeachments and 8 dismissals. There has never been a case where an impeachment was not dismissed." He added, "This means not only that the number of attempts was high, but also that there were unreasonable impeachment attempts in terms of content." Regarding this, he said, "It is appropriate for the Democratic Party to express some kind of stance. However, the Democratic Party has developed a culture of avoiding apologies and brushing things off whenever possible," and analyzed, "This was not the case when former Presidents Kim Dae-jung and Roh Moo-hyun were alive. The current Democratic Party is very different from back then." He attributed this to "the biggest change being in people and leadership."
When the host asked, "Can we interpret this as the current Democratic Party showing such behavior because it is Lee Jae-myung's Democratic Party?" Lee responded, "Yes. If not, it would be disrespectful to him as he would become meaningless," directly targeting Lee Jae-myung.
Regarding Lee Jae-myung's recent remark that "there are opinions within the Democratic Party about re-evaluating former President Park Geun-hye," Lee said, "It seems like a part of a rightward shift. Since he is capable of such flashy transformations, it is difficult for me to comment," but added, "I also think he might be trying to create an image that his judicial risks are not significant."
On the delay in the ruling on President Yoon Suk-yeol's impeachment trial, Lee said, "I think something is not going smoothly," and expressed, "For some reason, the opposition party seems a bit overexcited, while the ruling party appears relaxed, making me feel like their roles have reversed." Regarding the political situation if the impeachment is dismissed and the president returns, he predicted, "The group that will suffer the most damage and face the greatest dilemma will be the People Power Party," adding, "They need to forget Yoon Suk-yeol's politics quickly to hold elections, but having President Yoon in office feels like a heavy burden that will weigh on them for a long time. Even conservative forces would not want this."
