Lee Jun-seok "Even if I become president, I will not pardon Yoon"

Reform New Party Releases Presidential Primary Video
Responds with "△" to Constitutional Amendment During Term

Lee Jun-seok, a member of the Reform New Party, stated that if he becomes president in an early presidential election, he will not pardon President Yoon Seok-yeol.

On the 14th, in the 'Lee Jun-seok Candidate Policy and Vision Video' released on the Reform New Party's YouTube channel, when asked whether he would pardon President Yoon if he became president, Lee raised a board marked with an 'X'. He said, "Pardoning a person who plunged the country into chaos and committed acts practically equivalent to insurrection is an act that destroys the constitutional order."

He also said, "The delusions and martial law that the people have defeated must not become the beginning of other delusions and corruption," adding, "The early presidential election triggered by the impeachment of the president presents us with the historical task of somehow blocking attempts by another vested interest group to use the presidency as a shield."

He emphasized, "The answer is someone who can win," and said, "Since former President Park Geun-hye, I am the only one who has experience leading nationwide elections to victory under the conservative banner." When asked if he thinks there might have actually been election fraud, he held up the 'X' sign and said, "The idea that organized election fraud is possible is nothing but a delusion. I hope South Korea will no longer experience confusion caused by such election fraud theories."

Regarding whether he would carry out constitutional amendments during his term if he becomes president, he marked a △. He said, "The right answer is to do his best as president, successfully complete the five years, and leave constitutional amendments to the choice of the people." On coordination between government ministries, he suggested the possibility of abolishing the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Ministry of Unification, saying, "It is time to review their roles and efficiency."

Earlier, the Reform New Party Election Management Committee announced that after closing additional applications for the preliminary presidential primary, Lee was the sole candidate. Whether Lee will be confirmed as the party's presidential candidate will be decided through a member approval vote. The approval vote will be held over two days from the 16th to the 17th, and if the turnout exceeds 30% and a majority approves, Lee will be finally confirmed as the Reform New Party's presidential candidate.
